Parts of Alaska are Warmer Than Oxford: Our Hour-by-Hour Temperature Drop

Most of the state is under a wind chill advisory that can reach down to -20 degrees in certain towns.

Remember 40 degrees? It seems like it was only yesterday, and well that is because it was.

We’re miles away from that now as we are headed below zero early Tuesday and the bitter cold is going to stick around for awhile.

The good news? We won’t have to worry about snow until at least the weekend.

The bad news? Parts of the state will reach -20 degrees tonight with the windchill.

That strong of a wind chill can cause frostbite in just 30 minutes to exposed skin.

Want warmer temperatures? Head to Anchorage, AK where the temperature was a comparatively balmy 41 degrees with light rain Monday afternoon. In fact, high temperatures will be above freezing through Friday in the state known for polar bears and Sarah Palin.

Meanwhile, here is the hyperlocal temperature forecast for Oxford from Weather.com.

5 p.m.: 13 degrees, wind chill feels like -1degrees.

6 p.m.: 9 degrees, feels like -6 with wind chill.

8 p.m.: 5 degrees, feels like -10 with wind chill.

10 p.m.: 0 degrees, feels like -14 with wind chill.

Midnight: -2 degrees, feels like -15 degrees with wind chill.

7 a.m.: -8 degrees, feels like -8 degrees.

12 p.m.: 12 degrees

The high temp for Tuesday is 17 degrees, which will be reached at 10 p.m.
