Police: Oxford Man Wanted for Throwing Purse in Girlfriend's Face

Man throws purse at woman during domestic incident early Saturday morning, police said.

The following police reports were recently filed at the Oxford Resident Trooper's Office: 

Police are applying for a warrant for the arrest of a local man wanted for throwing his girlfriend’s purse in her face during a domestic dispute early Saturday morning, according to a police news release.

A 45-year-old woman who lives out of town called police at 1:03 a.m. to report that her boyfriend, 45-year-old James Rossetti, had thrown her purse in his face at his home located at 9 Fiddlehead Road in Oxford, the news release states. Police state the woman told police she had minor injuries to her face.

Rossetti left the home in an attempt to avoid apprehension, according to the news release, which states the warrant will be submitted to Derby Superior Court for charges of third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

A 51-year-old Oxford Southbury woman was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs after police pulled her over for failing to use her car’s headlights at 12:36 a.m. on Saturday, police stated in a news release.

Carol Jean Redden, 51, of 452 Heritage Road, Apt. 302, was pulled over by Resident Trooper Ryan Pfieffer on Route 67 in the area of Christian Street, the report states.

She was charged with driving under the influence and given an infraction for failure to have her car's head lights illuminated. She was released on a $750 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned at Derby Superior Court on April 29.

Police say they pulled over an Oxford man over during a routine traffic stop on Lakeside Road in Southbury and discovered he was wanted for failure to appear for a court date.

Cornelius Venable, 36, of 2 Krystalle Lane, was re-arrested after being pulled over on Thursday afternoon, according to a police report. He was charged with failure to appear and released on a $750 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned at Derby Superior Court on May 2.

Venable was wanted for not appearing at court to face charges of operating an unregistered motor vehicle, failure to insure a private motor vehicle and illegal operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license, according to state records.
