For Texans, the Battle of the Alamo (February 26 – March 6, 1836) became an enduring symbol of their heroic resistance to oppression and their struggle for independence. Today, people worldwide “Remember the Alamo” as a heroic struggle against impossible odds — a place where men made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. For this reason, the Alamo remains the Shrine of Texas Liberty and hallowed ground for all Americans.
