Room Dedicated in Memory of Long-Time Finance Board Member John J. Fiore

Fiore passed away at the age of 89 in May.

OXFORD - First Selectman George R. Temple dedicated a hearing room in Town Hall recently in the memory of long-time finance board member John J. Fiore. Fiore pased away at the age of 89 on May 11 of this year. He served on the Board of Finance in Oxford for more than 20 years, serving as its chairman for a part of that time.

He was also a member of the Oxford Democratic Town Committee and also was a Boy Scout Troop leader in the area and was also involved with the Visiting Nurses Association (Valley Chapter) he served in the Airforce during World War II and was the comptroler for the former B F Goodrich Company’s Sponge Rubber Division and was also a part owner of the Housatonic Ever-Float Inc., company.

The event was attended by Fiore’s family, and others including Temple, and former First Selectmen Mary-Ann Drayton Rogers and Kathy Johnson who both worked with Fiore.
