Route 34 Over The Stevenson Dam Between Monroe and Oxford To Close For Repairs

The popular route will be closed for four days later this month.

Route 34 over the Stevenson Dam between Monroe and Oxford will be closed in both directions from June 27 through June 30, 2015.

It’s being closed so maintenance work which began at the beginning of May can be completed.

The road block starts at 6 a.m. Saturday, June 27th and concludes at 11 PM Tuesday, June 30th.

Motorists who travel east or west on Route 34 between Oxford and Monroe should plan alternate routes.

In an effort to minimize the impact to the public, most of the work will be done throughout the weekend.

Traffic will be detoured using state Route 111, Route 110, and Bridge Street in the City of Shelton.

Long-distance traffic is advised to take Route 8 and Interstate 84 to avoid the Stevenson Dam.
Another option is to get on Interstate 84 in Southbury if you’re daily commute takes you to greater Danbury or New York State.

ALL BUSINESS ON ROUTE 34 IN MONROE AND THE LAKE ZOAR BOAT RAMP WILL BE OPEN. JUST TELL THE POLICE OFFICER AT THE DETOUR WHERE YOU NEED TO GO.
