Sea Plane Headed Makes Emergency Landing at Lake Quassapaug

Nobody was injured during the incident on Sunday.

At 7:47 a.m. today, a sea plane headed for the made an emergency landing on Lake Quassapaug in Middlebury, according to a press release from Middlebury Police Department Lt. Richard Wildman.

The name of the pilot is not known at this time, he said. 

"The plane had mechanical difficulty with one of the landing gear wheels caused by a hydraulic line issue," Lt. Wildman stated in the release. "The pilot was in touch with and safely landed the plane on the lake."

The plane was parked at the McDonald Beach Club off Middlebury Road, where the plane was quickly repaired, Lt. Wildman reported.

"The pilot was able to fly out of Lake Quassapaug within an hour of the landing," he said.
 
The Middlebury Police Department and the Federal Aviation Administration, or FAA, do not consider this a crash, but rather an emergency landing, according to Lt. Wildman.
