Stop Towantic Power Coalition Holding Press Conference Monday in Oxford

The power plant opposition group says it believes town officials endorsed the tax agreement based on false economics.

The Stop Towantic Power Coalition will hold a press conference on the steps of Oxford Town Hall on Monday February 22, 2016 at 10 am.

The STP Coalition believes that the Oxford town fathers prematurely endorsed the construction of this project based upon false economics and a detailed analysis will be presented for voter review. The media will be represented. All voters of the Township of Oxford are invited to attend.

1. We will present an analysis using hard data from the Village of Oxford Greens to demonstrate that the PILOT (Payment In Lieu Of Taxes) tax agreement twice presented to the Oxford voters and twice rejected represents as net loss in revenue to the town.

2. We will compare the development of another 55+ community in CT with Oxford Greens. The comparison will show how the proposed CPV power plant has slowed the growth locally thereby reducing the tax revenue to the town of Oxford.

3. We will provide hard data showing how the power plant will negatively affect the local economy.
