Suspicious Fire Under Investigation

Oxford officials are investigating a suspicious deck fire that occurred at a home at 131 Shelton Road early Sunday morning.

Fire Chief Scott Pelletier, who also serves as the town's fire marshal, said the fire started on a deck and was contained there; it was put out by a homeowner before it spread to the house, he said.

Firefighters and police officers spent much of Sunday morning investigating when signs led them to believe the fire may have been intentionally set.

The incident remains under investigation, Pelletier said. Nobody was injured.
