Temple/Haney Campaign Reports Signs Stolen

First selectman candidate's camp says the signs were taken and have filed a police report.

The campaign for Republican First Selectman candidate George Temple and his running mate, selectman candidate Jeff Haney, says it has filed a complaint with the Oxford Resident Trooper's Office claiming that nine of the campaign's political signs were stolen from Quaker Farms Road.

In an email to local media outlets, the campaign states the signs had been "specially ordered by the campaign as a new and innovative way to show a point of view in a sequential way."

The signs were taken sometime between Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, according to the campaign. The signs, which were valued at more than $200, were fashioned after the old Burman Shave commercials, the campaign representatives said: The signs read "Tired of promises never kept? Tired of politicians who have overslept? In the town of Oxford, the solution is simple: For the Board of Selectman vote for Temple and Haney."

Another Temple-Haney sign that simply said the candidates' names and Oxford Together were stolen, the campaign said.

Temple stated in the email he was disappointed the signs were taken. He said there are pictures of the signs on his website www.georgertemple.com.
