THC Coming To Oxford Brewery

OXFORD, CT — Visitors to Black Hog Brewing will soon be able to buy a THC-infused drink from a vending machine at its Oxford taproom — but they’ll have to take the can elsewhere to drink it.

The machine is scheduled to begin operating Thursday, Oct. 1, according to a Hartford Business Journal report. It will stock drinks from Fizz Social Soda, Hi! People, LIFTD and BUDR, each containing 5 milligrams of THC. CT Canning, Black Hog’s beverage manufacturing operation, makes the drinks in Oxford.

Customers will first have their age checked by taproom staff and buy a token at the register. Each token can then be exchanged for one can at the machine. Sales will be limited to 12 cans per person per day, and the drinks are for consumption off the premises.

The launch falls on the day changes under Connecticut Public Act 26-8 take effect. The law allows licensed infused beverage manufacturers to sell drinks directly to adults at their premises, subject to the daily limit. It also raises the THC limit for drinks sold there from 3 milligrams to 5 milligrams per container.

Black Hog is at 115 Hurley Road. The company has announced the vending machine’s launch for Thursday; it was not yet operating when the announcement was reported Monday.
