Three Arrested in Oxford Drunken Driving Spot Check

The following information was provided by state police barracks Troop A in Southbury. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Police from the Oxford Resident Trooper’s Office nabbed three people for drunken driving during aon Route 67 between Sunday night and early Monday morning.

The following arrests were made:

  • David A. Divito, 58, who gave police his address as PO Box 153 in Middlebury, was charged with driving under the influence and failure to carry insurance.
  • Debra Baxter, 52, of 1 Skokorat Road, Seymour, tried to make a U-turn on Route 67 to avoid the spot check, police stated in a news release. Police pulled her over and smelled alcohol, the release states.
  • Gary Knotout, 60, of 65 Hillcrest Ave., Watertown, admitted to police that he had been drinking alcohol before he was arrested, police stated in a news release.

All of the above are scheduled to be arraigned at Derby Superior Court on July 15.
