Two Senior Citizens Injured After Thursday Night Car Accident

Women, 82 and 71, were taken to local hospitals following head-on crash that closed Route 67 for hours.

Two senior citizens were taken to area hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries after being involved in a on Route 67 at 7:26 p.m. Thursday.

Police stated in a news release that Dolores Kager, 82, was traveling southbound in the area of Old State Road #1 when it crossed the center line for an unknown reason and struck a vehicle driven by Penelope Yarrington, 71, head on.

Both women were transported by ambulance to area hospitals and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the release. Kager sustained a head injury, and Yarrington complained of dizziness and neck and back pain, police stated in the news release.

Kager lives at 43 Greenbriar Road in Oxford. Yarrington lives at 471 Rimmon Hill Road in Beacon Falls.

Kager's 2000 Volvo S70 and Yarrington's 1996 Toyota Camry sustained heavy front-end damage and were towed from the scene.

The accident remains under investigation, the report states.

Members of the Oxford Resident Trooper's Office, Oxford fire, Oxford ambulance and Beacon Falls ambulance responded.
