Wilton Police Officer From Oxford Receives Promotion

Two officers were promoted at a ceremony held earlier this month.

Two Wilton police officers were recently promoted at a ceremony held Oct. 5.

Officer Thomas Conlan, who started with the department in 2000 was promoted from the rank of lieutenant to captain. Officer Robert Cipolla, who started with the department in 2005 was promoted from the rank of sergeant to lieutenant.

Conlan has several commendations and letters of recognition for his work performance as well as letters from the public recognizing him for his professionalism and work ethic. Conlan has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice – Law Enforcement Administration from the University of New Haven and is currently pursuing his Masters Degree.

He is a member of the Wilton Domestic Violence Task Force and the department Liaison to the Domestic Violence Crisis Center in Norwalk.

He resides in Oxford with his wife Ashley and their three children, Katie, Brin and Jake.

Cipolla has participated in a forum warning against scams that target seniors, for the “Stay At Home in Wilton” group. He has been recognized by the organization MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) for his achievements in the areas of enforcement, education and community involvement. He has also received numerous letters of commendation and recommendation

for his outstanding efforts as a patrol officer, acting sergeant and acting detective. Cipolla was named Officer of the Year in 2009 by Chief Lombardo.

He graduated with honors from Notre Dame High School in Fairfield and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice, while maintaining his status on the Dean’s list, from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Officer Cipolla was honored as graduating first in his class at the Connecticut Police Academy in Meriden, the first time ever from the Wilton Police Department.

He resides in Trumbull with his wife Merrianne and their new baby Liliana.
