5 Things All About Ridgefield: Feb. 14
Cupid's big day, public forums, MIRMA, conservation meetings and diesel submarines.

- Today is Valentine's Day, of course. For any last minute advice, check out what fellow Fairfield County residents have to say about the better gift: flowers or chocolate.
- A public forum will be held tonight 7:30 p.m. regarding the proposed budget set forth by the Board of Education. If you have questions or concerns about how the district plans to spend its money in 2011-12, now's the time to make them heard.
- Also at the Board of Education meeting tonight, the contentious MIRMA repayments will be discussed. The town plans to pay back the money it owes the insurance agency, and the school board has yet to decide what part it will play in that process.
- Across the hall, there will be a conservation commission meeting at the same time, 7:30 p.m.
- On this day in 1912, the first diesel-powered submarine was commissioned in Groton, Conn.
