8-Year-Old With Brain Cancer Gets Sweet Surprise from The Natural Scoop
The Natural Scoop, a Ridgefield-based ice cream shop, donated ice cream for Brook Blake's 8th birthday party.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Natural Scoop helped make an 8-year-old's birthday party a little sweeter by donating ice cream for her birthday celebration.
According to their Facebook post, Brooke Blake was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer last December called DIPG which stands for Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma.
The Cure Starts Now website explains that this type of cancer affects the brainstem and nervous system function. It is one of the most resistant of all cancers to chemotherapy.
Brooke is a second grader at Barlow Mountain Elementary School and recently completed 6 weeks of radiation. She is going through the process of applying to qualify for a medical trial at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer.
The Natural Scoop said on ther Facebook page:
"We share this with everyone to ask for your wishes and prayers, too. Believe in Brooke!"
