RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Ridgefield Arts Council on April 28 reviewed the success of its spring scholarship fundraiser and finalized preparations for its upcoming “Behind the Scenes” awards event, while approving routine business items without opposition.
The council unanimously approved minutes from its April 8 meeting and voted to amend its agenda to postpone discussion of a town sculpture project until June.
The meeting was called to order at 7:19 p.m.
Council members reported that the April 23 scholarship fundraiser at The Lantern was well attended and generated at least $835 in combined digital and cash donations, with additional totals from food and beverage sales still pending.

Members said the event’s live music and art raffle drew strong participation and discussed potential improvements for future fundraisers, including scheduling later in the spring, incorporating donation prompts into menus, and refining use of QR codes as the council transitions away from its standalone website.
The council confirmed that its annual “Behind the Scenes” awards event will take place May 18 at Keeler Tavern, with 12 honorees selected. Officials said certificates have been requested from Town Hall.
The council’s scholarship recipient will also attend the event and present photos or video, with a check for scholarship funds to be issued by the town.
Preparations continue for Make Music Day, scheduled for June 21, with performances expected throughout the day. Council members were asked to assist with event setup, operations and breakdown.
The Cultural District subcommittee also provided updates on branding and outreach efforts, including social media expansion, consultant meetings and site visits to other districts for planning ideas.
The council noted that its Town Hall-hosted webpage has been updated to include information on council initiatives and a registration link for Make Music Day, following the decision to discontinue its independent website later this year.
