RIDGEFIELD, CT — Grammy Award-winning fiddler Eileen Ivers and folk group The Steel Wheels are scheduled to perform this week as part of the CHIRP summer concert series in Ridgefield.
CHIRP, or Concert Happenings in Ridgefield’s Parks, is celebrating its 25th anniversary season this year. The organization presents free concerts on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer in Ballard Park.
Eileen Ivers & The Brigideens will perform Tuesday, June 2, at 7 p.m. in Ballard Park. Ivers is a Grammy Award recipient and nine-time All-Ireland fiddle champion known for Celtic and Americana roots music.
The Steel Wheels are scheduled to perform Thursday, June 4, at 7 p.m. Organizers said the band formed in 2005 and blends traditional and contemporary folk-rock sounds.
The nonprofit series is funded through donations from individuals, foundations and local businesses and is co-sponsored by the town’s Parks & Recreation Department and The Ridgefield Press. The concerts move indoors during poor weather conditions.
