RIDGEFIELD, CT — Zydeco musician C.J. Chenier and folk-rock group David Wax Museum are scheduled to perform this week during the CHIRP concert series in Ridgefield.
C.J. Chenier & His Red Hot Louisiana Band will perform Tuesday, June 9, at 7 p.m. in Ballard Park. CHIRP organizers described Chenier as a longtime audience favorite and referred to him as “the king of zydeco.”
David Wax Museum is scheduled to perform Thursday, June 11, at 7 p.m. as part of the free summer concert series.
CHIRP, short for Concert Happenings in Ridgefield’s Parks, presents concerts Tuesdays and Thursdays from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The organization said concerts are typically held outdoors in Ballard Park, with indoor venues used during inclement weather.
The series is funded through donations and contributions from local businesses and foundations and is co-sponsored by the town’s Parks & Recreation Department and The Ridgefield Press, according to organizers.
