RIDGEFIELD, CT — Bluegrass musician Liam Purcell and roots-rock performer Christine Ohlman are scheduled to headline this week’s CHIRP concert series in Ridgefield.
Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road will perform Tuesday, June 16, at 7 p.m. in Ballard Park. Purcell won first-place honors in mandolin, banjo and guitar at the 2022 Rockygrass Instrumental Championships in Colorado.
No Depression magazine described the band as “the future of bluegrass” for its blend of traditional and contemporary styles.
Christine Ohlman with Rebel Montez is scheduled to perform Thursday, June 18, at 7 p.m. Ohlman, known as “The Beehive Queen,” performs music blending Americana and soul and was inducted into the National Blues Hall of Fame of American Heritage in 2017.
CHIRP, short for Concert Happenings in Ridgefield’s Parks, presents free concerts Tuesdays and Thursdays from Memorial Day through Labor Day in Ballard Park. The concert series is funded through donations from individuals, foundations and local businesses and is co-sponsored by the town through the Parks & Recreation Department and The Ridgefield Press.
