RIDGEFIELD, CT — Ridgefield is moving ahead with plans to accept 84 Mamanasco Road as a donated property after receiving the lien releases needed to clear its title, the town's Blight Prevention Board reported at its Aug. 18 meeting.
The town will now proceed with paperwork needed to accept the property. The Board of Selectpersons has also authorized the use of contingency funds to cover approximately $15,000 in demolition costs, according to the Blight Prevention Board's unapproved minutes.
The board also discussed an adjacent property consisting of about 1.71 acres of wetlands. The minutes identify Barbara Tansky and her late brother, Bernard Tansky, as the owners. Attorneys need an affidavit documenting Bernard Tansky's death as work involving the property proceeds.
The board discussed conditions at 51 Tally Ho Road, including an unmowed lawn and a concern about the property's appearance.
First Selectman Rudy Marconi said an unmowed lawn does not constitute blight. Building Official Jason Celestino agreed to drive by the property to inspect the site.
The board will continue monitoring 43 Danbury Road, former location of the Red Rooster Pub, where cut trees have not been cleared and the property was described in the minutes as being in disarray.
A tree at the corner of the property was a town tree, and its removal had been approved by the tree warden.
The board also received an update from Planning and Zoning indicating that officials were awaiting a pre-construction meeting. The minutes state that a "pause and cease" letter is in place for the property. No additional action by the Blight Prevention Board was recorded.
Marconi also updated the board on the town-owned property at 29 Lakeview Drive.
According to the minutes, the Board of Selectpersons has approved the property's sale. Marconi reported interest in acquiring the land for parking or incorporating it into neighboring properties.
The Blight Prevention Board meeting began at 11:03 a.m. via Zoom. Marconi, Celestino and board members Aarti Paranjape, Jennifer Zbell and Drew Loya attended. No guests were present.
The board unanimously approved its June 16 meeting minutes and adjourned at 11:21 a.m. Its next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 15 at 11 a.m.
