RIDGEFIELD, CT — Ridgefield police reported three separate incidents this week, including a pedestrian crash, an arrest warrant in an assault case and a DUI arrest.
Police said officers responded at about 12:09 p.m. Sept. 16 to the intersection of Grove Street and Prospect Street for a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
An investigation determined that a Ford Explorer was turning left from Grove Street onto Prospect Street when it struck a pedestrian who was crossing in the crosswalk, police said. The pedestrian was evaluated by Ridgefield Fire Department and EMS personnel and taken to Danbury Hospital for further medical evaluation.
Police said the driver, identified as an 85-year-old Bennets Farm Road resident, was issued an infraction for failure to grant the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Police listed one injury and minor damage to the front driver's side bumper.
In a separate case, police said an arrest warrant was served Sept. 13 in connection with an assault that occurred Aug. 1 near the intersection of Ethan Allen Highway and Branchville Road.
The investigation found that Irving Pagan, 30, of Holyoke, Massachusetts, got out of his vehicle at a red light, assaulted another driver and left before officers arrived.
Pagan was processed at Ridgefield Police Department headquarters and released after posting 7 percent of a $2,000 bond, according to police. He is scheduled to appear Sept. 29 in Danbury Superior Court.
Police said Pagan was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace.
In a third case, police said officers observed a vehicle pulling to the side of the road near 872 Ethan Allen Highway at about 12:35 a.m. Sept. 16 in what appeared to be a disabled motor vehicle.
Police said further investigation determined the driver, a 25-year-old Danbury man, was operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Police said the motorist was also wanted on a failure-to-appear warrant out of Stamford Superior Court.
He was charged with operating a motor vehicle without a license, driving under the influence and failure to appear, according to police. The motorist was held on a total of $1,600 bond and was presented in court Sept. 16.
