RIDGEFIELD, CT — Ridgefield police reported two crashes involving injuries and a separate speeding case in incidents listed in a Sept. 24 news release.
Police said officers were dispatched at about 2:45 p.m. Sept. 18 to the intersection of Ethan Allen Highway and Cains Hill Road for a two-car crash with injuries.
Police said Redding resident Mark Krantz was turning left from Cains Hill Road onto Ethan Allen Highway and was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by Melissa Velasquez of Stamford. Both motorists were taken to Danbury Hospital for evaluation of injuries, according to police.
Police said that because of conflicting statements from the drivers, officers could not determine which motorist was responsible. Police listed two injuries and heavy damage to both vehicles.
In a separate case, officers observed a black Chevrolet Camaro traveling south on Danbury Road near Ritch Drive at 72 mph in a posted 35 mph zone at about 7:58 p.m. Sept. 21.
The driver, Nicholas Osebio of Bethel, was issued a misdemeanor summons on a speeding charge and released on a written promise to appear Oct. 6 in Danbury Superior Court.
Police also reported a two-car crash at about 2:45 p.m. Sept. 18 in the area of West Mountain Road and Oscaleta Road.
Based on observations at the scene and statements from the drivers, police said a vehicle in the southbound lane crossed the double yellow lines and struck a northbound vehicle. Both drivers were evaluated for injuries and transported to Danbury Hospital.
