RIDGEFIELD, CT — Ridgefield School District is among the five best school districts in Connecticut, according to a new ranking.
The district ranked No. 4 statewide in Niche's 2027 Best School Districts rankings, earning an A+ overall grade. Ridgefield also ranked No. 67 among more than 10,000 school districts evaluated nationwide.
Ridgefield received particularly high marks in several other categories. Niche ranked the district No. 5 in Connecticut for both best teachers and best places to teach, and No. 9 among the state's best school districts for athletes.
Westport School District took the No. 1 spot in Connecticut, followed by Greenwich Public Schools at No. 2 and New Canaan Public Schools at No. 3. Ridgefield came in fourth, while Darien School District rounded out the state's top five.

Niche's school district rankings are based on an analysis of statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents, using data from the U.S. Department of Education.
Factors considered in the rankings include state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, teacher quality and public school district ratings, among other measures.
Niche said SAT and ACT scores were removed from this year's ranking methodology to reflect the broader shift away from standardized test scores in the college admissions process.
The education ranking service also released its 2027 rankings of Connecticut's best public and private schools.
