RIDGEFIELD, CT — A busy week of town meetings leads the Ridgefield calendar, with the Board of Selectpersons set to discuss charter revision, the Historic District Commission holding a Sunday site visit on Main Street and the grace period for second-quarter property taxes still running.

1. Selectpersons Take Up Charter Revision, America 250 Committee
When: Wednesday, Oct. 7, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Town Hall Large Conference Room, 400 Main St.
What to know: The Board of Selectpersons' agenda includes a charter revision discussion, an update from the town's 250 Committee and the review and approval of a charge for a Public Safety Committee. The board will also consider the reappointment of Bob Knight to the Economic and Community Development Commission and act on an item listed as an "RPS Request," as well as tax refunds and meeting minutes. 2. Economic Development Panel Reviews Sugar Hollow, 'Tiger Shark Tank'
When: Monday, Oct. 5, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Town Hall Large Conference Room, 400 Main St.
What to know: The Economic and Community Development Commission, chaired by Bob Knight, will take up its annual report and a commercial real estate report, according to the agenda. Members will also discuss the town's Community and Cultural District, the Sugar Hollow District and two entrepreneurship efforts, "Tiger Shark Tank" and "Ridgefield Connect." The agenda ends with an executive session on real estate matters. Members of the public get three minutes to speak after the commission discusses an item and before it votes.

3. Historic District Commission Visits Main Street Property
When: Sunday, Oct. 11, 10 a.m.
Where: 54 Main St.
What to know: The Historic District Commission will hold a site visit and special meeting at 54 Main St. to review two new gates proposed for the Rockwell Road side of the property, according to the town's notice. The commission will also vote on its 2027 meeting schedule and approve minutes from its Aug. 24 site visit at 323 Main St.

4. Arts Council Sets 2027 Budget Request, Banner Schedule
When: Wednesday, Oct. 7, 7:15 p.m.
Where: Town Hall Small Conference Room, 400 Main St., and on Zoom
What to know: The Ridgefield Arts Council's agenda includes its 2027 budget request, the 2026-27 banner schedule, member updates and transition planning. Under new business, members will discuss the council's accounts (Google Drive, Zoom Pro, Canva and Constant Contact) and set 2027 meeting dates. Residents can attend in person or join online using Zoom meeting ID 362 559 6884.

5. Second-Quarter Property Tax Grace Period Continues
When: Due now; grace period runs through Monday, Nov. 2
Where: Tax Collector's Office, Town Hall, 400 Main St.
What to know: The second quarterly payment on real estate and personal property taxes (Grand List of Oct. 1, 2025) was due Oct. 1. Residents can pay without interest through Nov. 2, according to Tax Collector Jane Berendsen-Hill. Payments can be made by phone, by text or online, by electronic check (a 95-cent fee) or credit card. Late payments are charged 3% interest right away, plus 1.5% for each month after that, with a minimum charge of $2. The office is open 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. It will also be open 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 31, and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 2. Checks payable to Tax Collector, Town of Ridgefield, can be mailed to P.O. Box 299, Ridgefield, CT 06877-0299.
