U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal and First Selectman Rudy Marconi help honor Boy Scout Troop 431’s newest Eagle Scouts

On Saturday, November 24, 2012, Senator Richard Blumenthal and First Selectman Rudy Marconi helped to honor Boy Scout Troop 431’s newest Eagle Scouts. Eric Gonzalez, Nicholas Rogoff, Joseph Lordi, Samuel Mortinger and Clay Golde all achieved Scouting’s highest rank through dedication and hard work over a period of more than 5 years. Each of the Eagle Scouts earned more than 21 merit badges, performed in excess of 50 hours of community service, and completed projects that either supported the Ridgefield community or less fortunate groups. These projects included: collection and distribution of sporting equipment for under- represented individuals, a covered outdoor message board at the Boys and Girls Club, and an information kiosk at the trail head of Richardson Park, a new fire pit and cooking area at Sturges Park, and development of a website and network for St. Stephens United Methodist Church. With the addition of these five Eagle Scouts, that brings Troop 431’s Eagle total to NN since the founding of the Troop in 2000. All of the young men, in their personal reflection statements, described their most memorable times in scouting, which included: high adventure trips, city trips to places such Boston, Gettysburg, and the Naval Academy in Baltimore; annual ski trips, summer camps, significant service to the community, and the generous assistance of the adult volunteers; all examples of the Troop’s motto: “Troop 431 Gets it Done!” For more information on Troop 431 or Scouting please www.troop431.net.
