Press release

ACT of CT Spring Conservatory:
THE ART OF PRODUCING A MUSICAL!

ACT of CT is thrilled to unveil its upcoming Spring Conservatory Program, an exceptional educational experience rarely found outside of NYC theater training programs. In this semester's program, a select group of students will delve into the intricacies of producing a mainstage musical. Topics will span from show selection, pre-production, design meetings, casting sessions, rehearsals, technical period, all the way through the show’s first public performance. Participants will enjoy unparalleled access to the behind-the-scenes action of ACT of CT's spring mainstage production of KINKY BOOTS.

Aligned with the commencement of the KINKY BOOTS rehearsal period, students will witness real-time applications of the topics covered in the program. Under the guidance of ACT of CT's Artistic Director, Daniel C. Levine, the conservatory students will receive instruction from the director, designers, choreographer, producers, stage managers, and cast of KINKY BOOTS. This comprehensive six-week course serves as a "masterclass in producing," offering a truly unique opportunity.

Different from ACT of CT’s "performance-based" Conservatory Programs, this special semester is designed to explore the "art of creating a show" rather than performing in one. A fantastic opportunity for aspiring theater-makers, this course emphasizes the importance of understanding all facets of theater production from inception to completion.

Open exclusively to serious theater students, this seven-week program is reserved for students high school and above. It provides a valuable glimpse into the many exciting jobs within the theater arts industry, showcasing the roles of directors, stage managers, producers, designers, casting directors, and more in bringing the magic of live theater to life. Don't miss this chance to be part of a transformative learning experience!

Sessions Dates:
April 8, 11, 25, May 2, 9, 16, 23* (all from 6pm-8pm) at ACT of CT

*May 23, 2024 session will include the 1st Preview Performance of KINKY BOOTS (6pm-9:30pm)
