Annual Town Meeting Sends Budget to Referendum
The proposed town and school operating budgets total more than $144 million.

RIDGEFIELD, CT -- A hundred or more residents gathered in East Ridge Middle School auditorium on Monday night for the annual town meeting that lasted more than three hours.
Despite numerous calls from the floor for reductions to the school budget -- all rejected-- the meeting ultimately voted to send the 2018-19 town and school operating budgets, totaling more than $144 million to referendum. Some of the pricier line items were carved out into their own capital spending plantotaling more than $5 million.
The public referendum on the budget is scheduled for May 15.
