Arts Council Holds Event for Artists/Creatives

The Ridgefield Arts Council invites local artists and creative professionals to the next installment of “The Generator.” The networking event will feature three speakers discussing their respective artistic endeavors, and will be held at 7:30pm, Monday, June 22nd at the Garden of Ideas. During the event, artists, writers and performers gather with the goal of learning, sharing, and networking with others to enhance both their creative process and their careers. The events are managed via the website Meetup.com and feature innovative speakers, arts demonstrations and presentations geared toward the creative community.

Speaker Joseph Keller is the Director of Ridgefield’s Garden of Ideas. Joe started gardening as a child with his mother Terry and grandfather Henry. This interest evolved into Joe’s passion and career. Recognized in the industry as a savvy plantsman and designer, Joe writes about gardening for publications including Fine Gardening and The New York Times. Joe loves Brussels sprouts.

American tenor William Joyner currently serves as Assistant Professor of Vocal Studies at the University of North Texas. During the course of his career he has thrilled and enchanted audiences throughout Europe and North America with his powerful, sensitive, and detailed portrayals of some of opera’s greatest leading roles. Particularly at home in the French repertoire of the 19th century, Mr. Joyner is also noted for his performances of Giacomo Puccini.

An award-winning Connecticut painter Cynthia K. Mullins enjoys painting a range of subjects and is especially drawn to landscapes, still life and “closely cropped” florals. Ms. Mullins’ work reflects an innate connection to the beauty, shape, design, atmosphere and color she observes in the natural world. Ms. Mullins’ painting roots run deep as she is the great, great granddaughter of renowned Hudson Valley River School painter Aaron Draper Shattuck and, of the same school, the great, great grand niece of Samuel Colman.

Following the brief presentations, members of The Generator will be encouraged to mix and mingle with presenters and each other. Cost of attending The Generator is $5 for pre-registration (via meetup.com/The-Generator-Ridgefield-CT) or $10 at the door, which covers the cost of wine and light snacks.
