The pharmaceutical company announced Monday it would build the facility on its Ridgefield-Danbury campus.

Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc. has broken ground on a new $42.5 million dollar project this week, the Danbury News-Times reports.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Ridgefield First Selectman Rudy Marconi and Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton were invited to the ground-breaking ceremony at the company's 294-acre campus in Ridgefield and Danbury to kick off the two-year project to build a 63,000 square feet Safety Assessment Building, the News-Times reports.

"The fact that Boehringer Ingelheim continues to invest in its campus and create jobs is great news for Connecticut," Malloy told the News-Times.
