The Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield Mourn Exec Director's Passing

A memorial service will be held sometime after Labor Day.

RIDGEFIELD, CT -- The Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield is mourning the passing of their former executive director, Ed Helminski.

The Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield issued this statement on their Facebook page:

The entire BGCR family is deeply saddened at the passing of Ed Helminski, former Club Executive Director. Ed was loved by all Club members, and will always be remembered as a great friend and mentor.

Ed led the Club for over 4 decades and was instrumental in transitioning the Boys Club of Ridgefield to the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield in the late 1980’s, allowing girls to officially become members. He played an important role in the late 1990’s in securing state funding for all CT Clubs, funding we are lucky is still in place today. He was inducted to the BGCR Hall of Fame in 2011, an honor that was well deserved.

Most importantly, he was a father figure to many who grew up in Ridgefield. The Club would not be what it is today without Ed, and his dedication to the Club and Club members, and many years of hard work and endless leadership. He will truly be missed by all.

The Club is encouraging residents who may have known Helminski to share their stories and memories on their Facebook page. A memorial service will be held sometime after Labor Day.
