Bus Plan for Later Ridgefield School Start Times Has Steep Price

RIDGEFIELD, CT — An analysis of a plan to create later school start times for Ridgefield students shows it could cost over $434,000, The Ridgefield Press is reporting.

The move would necessitate Ridgefield Public Schools returning to the three-tier bus system the district had in 2008, but without changing bus routes needed to make the later start times work. That would require five more buses at a cost of about $434,391, based upon a report given by the board secretary at a meeting on Sept. 24.

The board decided last year to begin the start of school later, effective with the 2019-20 school year.
