Medicare Open Enrollment Overview

Event Details

Ridgefield Library, 472 Main St, Ridgefield, CT, 06877

The Ridgefield Commission on Aging is pleased to invite local seniors to the Senior Voices presentation on Tuesday, September 30 from 1:00-2:30 PM. The talk will focus on the upcoming Medicare Open Enrollment period and review the choices related to Medicare that every participant needs to know.

Hosted at the Ridgefield Library, this informative session will be presented by Karen Gaudian, Ridgefield’s Municipal Agent for the Elderly. Karen will provide an overview of Medicare, review any changes coming in 2026 for Medicare and speak about the Medicare counseling sessions that will again be available at the library during Open Enrollment by certified CHOICES counselors. This program is offered to provide Medicare recipients with an unbiased review of current coverage to ensure it is the best and most cost-effective choice for them in the coming year. The focus will be on traditional Medicare with gap/supplement coverage and prescription drug plans. CHOICES volunteers were able to help Medicare Part D participants save almost $250,000 in 2024 on prescription drugs alone.

This year, Karen will be joined by Dr. David Shapiro who is a volunteer with the Senior Medicare Patrol Program. Dr Shapiro will share information on how to protect, detect and report fraud, errors and abuse in Medicare. Dr. Shapiro was an attending physician at Danbury Hospital and a primary care physician for CIFC (CT Institute for Communities).

Senior Voices is a free event and hybrid program. Individuals may attend in person or register via Zoom through the library. Participants are invited to enjoy light refreshments and conversation following the program.
