Beginning Crochet This course will cover what you need to know about hooks, yarn, crochet terms, reading patterns, and basic crochet stitches. You will work on fun projects - simple to more advanced - as you progress. Bring your own hooks or borrow from the instructor; practice yarn provided. Instruction provided for right handed crochet. Eileen Burton, a long-term instructor, learned to crochet as a child and has enjoyed crocheting as a hobby since then. She has taught a variety of classes to adults, including crochet and organic gardening. Class limit 5.

<a href="https://www.ridgefieldct.gov/boards_committees_commissions/commission_on_aging_/index.php" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">The Ridgefield Commission on Agin</a>g invites the community to its monthly Senior Voices program, featuring a presentation by the Ridgefield Library that will showcase the many resources, services and opportunities available to residents of all ages.
Library Director Brenda McKinley, Assistant Library Director John Casiello and representatives from several library departments will introduce attendees to the Library’s rich history, extensive physical and digital collections, adult programs, lectures and special events.
They will also highlight everyday services, including free Wi-Fi, public computers, printing, faxing and personalized technology assistance.
Senior Voices is free and open to the public. Participants may attend either in person or via Zoom. Following the presentation, guests are invited to stay for light refreshments and conversation.

Instructor Peggy Bruno, a certified teacher, has developed computer courses and trained many adults in business office software, such as Excel and Powerpoint, for many&nbsp;years. She previously worked in corporate marketing and information services. She has also taught Microsoft Office at the community college level. She holds a BA and MA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

LaBlast Fitness ® Cardio Dance Workout with Light Weights You will get your heart rate up and sweat a bit with this aerobic workout created by Louis Van Amstel of Dancing with the Stars. LaBlast® is a partner-free, simple, low impact, safe, cardio / ballroom dance workout for all levels. Some exercises use optional light weights. There is no mat. It's fun and energizing. Beginners are encouraged to attend. Wear sneakers and bring light hand weights (if you have them) and a water bottle. Instructor Denise Nethercott started ballroom dancing in 2011 and has successfully competed as an amateur ballroom dancer with Fred Astaire Dance Studios. She is an Open Gold level dancer with numerous accomplishments. She placed first at the National Dance Championship competition in Florida and is the winner of many Regional competitions throughout these years - both Championship and Scholarship rounds. She is proficient in both American and International styles. Denise's mission is to combine her passion for ballroom dance with her passion for physical fitness. Upon discovering LaBlast® Fitness, she knew right away, this was for her. LaBlast® is a fun, safe exercise program that combines the love of dance with the need to move our bodies. Denise became a certified LaBlast® Fitness instructor in 2019 and started Dance Fit with Denise in 2021.

Event Dance Bootcamp. . . Beginner / Brush Up 
Dancing should be FUN! Learn social dancing to a variety of music for parties, weddings, cruises and dance events. Class size limited. You will learn a sampling of ballroom and club dances, such as basic Rumba, Cha-Cha, East Coast Swing and some club style dances. Great for beginners and for those who have been away from dance for awhile. A fun, no stress way to learn how to move on the dance floor. FOR THOSE GETTING MARRIED AND THEIR FAMILIES AND BRIDAL PARTIES - This is a fantastic, economical way to learn the basic movement/steps before you choreograph your first dance! Instructor Natalie Mazzola is a former amateur 10 dance champion, and a teacher for over 20 years at the Vitti's School of Dance in Danbury, CT. She loves to have fun, and her no stress attitude toward dance is clear as her students always leave with a smile! Our schedule of in-person (and livestreamed) services are as follows:
Rosh Hashanah Service, Friday, September 11th at 7:30 pm (Oneg to follow) Yom Kippur Kol Nidre Service, Sunday, September 20th at 7:30 pmYom Kippur Memorial and Closing Service, Monday, September 21st at 5:00 pm. 
All three services will be open to members and non-members, their families, and guests, both in-person and by livestream. Non-members must pre-register, no later than Friday, September 4, for location details or livestream instructions. Register on&nbsp;CHJ’s website. While our services are free of charge, we kindly ask non-members to consider a donation.
As the only Humanistic Jewish congregation in Connecticut, CHJ celebrates Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur with a Humanistic liturgy, beautiful live music (song leader and instrumental), and inspirational poetry and readings.

The Jay Heritage Center in Rye, New York will celebrate America at 250 with a toast to Jay Medal honorees Pulitzer Prize-winning author Annette Gordon-Reed, the Carl M. Loeb University Professor at Harvard University and award-winning Lincoln historian Harold Holzer.
The Jay Medal for Service was created in 2012 to recognize individuals who demonstrate a selfless spirit of commitment to and engagement with their community mirroring the multifaceted contributions of John Jay and his descendants. These honorees have demonstrated through their life's work that our shared narratives as a country, complicated as they are, can be better illuminated through the highest caliber of ongoing scholarship and advocacy. Honorees are selected for their excellence in the fields of American history, environmental stewardship, social justice or civic engagement.
Joining the celebration will be Chief Judge of the State of New York and the New York Court of Appeals, Honorable Rowan D. Wilson and historian and philanthropist Elihu Rose who will present the awards at JHC's annual Soirée. Special guests will include David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman, and Beverly Gage.

The Jay Medal Soirée will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Jay Estate from 5:30-9:30pm. Cocktails, dinner, award ceremony and dancing. Cocktail Attire.
