Ridgefield Guild of Artists presents its 49th Annual Juried Exhibition opening with a reception on Saturday, September 19th from 4-6pm. It is free and open to the public. The show continues through Sunday, October 18th. “We were thrilled to receive 495 submissions, a record for our Annual Juried Show,” said Grace Drake, Executive Director at the Guild, “with an array of paintings, photography, mixed-media and sculptures presented. We thank everyone who entered the longest running, and most prestigious show we offer.”
Michele Wije, the juror for this show, selected 69 pieces to be part of the show. She is a curator and museum professional specializing in modern and contemporary art. She is currently responsible for exhibitions and curating at the Yale University Art Gallery. Wije has published widely on art, is a US member of the Association Internationale des Critiques d’Art (AICA-USA) and holds a PhD in Art History from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University.
The Guild will present a Walk & Talk on the final day of the Juried Show, Sunday, October 18th from 2:30-4pm. Four to five artists will be on hand to talk about their works and artistic process. It’s always a lively and informative discussion, and a chance to meet and network with the artists. It is free and open to all.
A 501©3 non-profit arts organization, Ridgefield Guild of Artists is now in its 52nd year. With over 350 current members, the Guild provides support to artists of all levels with opportunities to show works at exhibitions and community events, along with networking events and class offerings. It is housed in the antique barn at 34 Halpin Lane across from the Theater Barn, and includes a gallery and art studios.
