Mushroom Walk with Mycologist, Zaac Chaves 
Grab a notebook and join Zaac Chaves on a mycologically focused ecological tour in Ridgefield on Sunday, October 18 at 4 p.m. During this outing we will identify seasonal mushrooms. You will help us catalog species (including possibly rare sightings) and even help document increasing evidence of climate change locally. No experience required. Zaac Chaves works on species surveys for several sites and sometimes with organizations including Harvard University, the New York Botanical Gardens, and the National Parks Service. We have found several new species at many sites and are also helping recognize others which are rare and disappearing. He also serves as the chief editor of the Boston Mycological Club Bulletin, established in 1897.

Free / Gratis If you are a resident of Ridgefield, Redding, Easton, Danbury, Brookfield, New Fairfield, Bethel, or Newtown you may take ESL, Citizenship, CDP, and GED classes free at WERACE in Danbury. LaBlast Fitness ® Cardio Dance Workout with Light Weights You will get your heart rate up and sweat a bit with this aerobic workout created by Louis Van Amstel of Dancing with the Stars. LaBlast® is a partner-free, simple, low impact, safe, cardio / ballroom dance workout for all levels. Some exercises use optional light weights. There is no mat. It's fun and energizing. Beginners are encouraged to attend. Wear sneakers and bring light hand weights (if you have them) and a water bottle. Instructor Denise Nethercott started ballroom dancing in 2011 and has successfully competed as an amateur ballroom dancer with Fred Astaire Dance Studios. She is an Open Gold level dancer with numerous accomplishments. She placed first at the National Dance Championship competition in Florida and is the winner of many Regional competitions throughout these years - both Championship and Scholarship rounds. She is proficient in both American and International styles. Denise's mission is to combine her passion for ballroom dance with her passion for physical fitness. Upon discovering LaBlast® Fitness, she knew right away, this was for her. LaBlast® is a fun, safe exercise program that combines the love of dance with the need to move our bodies. Denise became a certified LaBlast® Fitness instructor in 2019 and started Dance Fit with Denise in 2021.

Event Dance Bootcamp. . . Beginner / Brush Up 
Dancing should be FUN! Learn social dancing to a variety of music for parties, weddings, cruises and dance events. Class size limited. You will learn a sampling of ballroom and club dances, such as basic Rumba, Cha-Cha, East Coast Swing and some club style dances. Great for beginners and for those who have been away from dance for awhile. A fun, no stress way to learn how to move on the dance floor. FOR THOSE GETTING MARRIED AND THEIR FAMILIES AND BRIDAL PARTIES - This is a fantastic, economical way to learn the basic movement/steps before you choreograph your first dance! Instructor Natalie Mazzola is a former amateur 10 dance champion, and a teacher for over 20 years at the Vitti's School of Dance in Danbury, CT. She loves to have fun, and her no stress attitude toward dance is clear as her students always leave with a smile! Mah Jongg for Beginners - New Classes Starting Fall 2026

One bam . . . two crack! Never heard those words? In this course you'll not only learn what they mean, but will discover an exciting game that is experiencing a resurgence in popularity. When you take this class, you will learn from square one. Or should I say tile one! This primer is very basic and will have you playing in no time. Attendance at the first three classes is a must. You will learn rules of the game as sanctioned by the National Mah Jongg League. Please bring the 2026 National Mah Jongg League card to the first class (see notes below). If you own a Mah Jongg set bring it to class (do not run out and buy one). Come join me to learn this entertaining, social and most enjoyable game. Instructor Sybl Falik started playing Mah Jongg as a young mother, as a way to socialize. Quickly Mah Jongg became a passion, and she used this game to meet friends by teaching the game to women.
