Connecticut Supreme Court Overturns $12 Million Verdict in Boy Scouts Sex Abuse Case

The largest verdict against the scout organization ever has been overturned.

HARTFORD, CT – A $12 million jury verdict has been overturned by the Connecticut Supreme Court in a sex abuse case involving the Boy Scouts of America, Fox 61 reported.

A new trial was ordered by justices Monday on the grounds that a defense request to instruct jurors on negligence ability was improperly denied, Fox 61 reported. The case was that of a boy who alleged he was sexually assaulted in the 1970’s by an older boy in his troop.

Court documents show the plaintiff claimed the abuse happened three times when he was 11 in New Fairfield, according to Fox 61. The jury’s verdict agreed the scout organization failed to protect him from the abuse.
