Flax

Whether you're new to flax or have been using it for some time, there are some things you should know about this nutrient powerhouse. Rich in Omega-3 Fatty Acids, flax oil makes a great addition to shakes and smoothies, while ground flax works well sprinkled over salad or oatmeal.
But beware...
The Omega-3's that make flax so healthy can also lead to trouble. These essential fatty acids are very vulnerable to the elements, becoming rancid and carcinogenic when exposed to heat, light and oxygen under the right circumstances. I don't want to scare you away from flax, but want to make sure you know how to properly harness flax's health value.
