Door-to-Door Soliciting Now Mostly Illegal in Ridgefield

An exception was made for the Girl Scouts...

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Selling door-to-door in Ridgefield is largely illegal, now that provision of a permit process has been struck from the ordinance defining what is and is not permissiable in the matter of peddling, the News Times is reporting.

The legal updates were voted on and approved, at the most recent town meeting, attended by 14 residents.

But don't plug your doorbell back in quite yet. A number of exceptions were carved out in the ordinance revision, entitling the Girl Scouts, non-profits, church organizations and political canvassers, among others, to a place on your front porch.
