Ridgefield Police ID Elderly Woman Found Injured In Driveway
The elderly woman who died after being discovered in a driveway in Ridgefield last week has been identified.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — The elderly woman who died after being discovered in a driveway in Ridgefield last week has been identified. 94-year old Elsie Craig died at Danbury Hospital.
Craig had suffered "serious physical injuries" between 11:50 a.m. and 12:05 p.m. on July 12 while on High Ridge Road between Catoonah Street and Griffith Lane, according to police officials. The investigation into the cause of death is ongoing.
According to her obituary, Craig worked as a volunteer patient driver, and held positions at the Ridgefield Historical Society, Keeler Tavern and the Ridgefield Chapter of Regional Hospice and Palliative Care of Western.
She was born in Danbury on November 27, 1926, a daughter of the late Domenic and Ida (Montanari) Fossi. She was raised in Ridgefield, attended Ridgefield schools and graduated from Ridgefield High School.
Memorial services are Tuesday, 10:30 at St. Peter Church in Danbury, with burial at St. Mary Cemetery in Ridgefield.
