New Exhibitions
The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum will present FOUND Outside, six sculpture projects by artists working with salvaged materials and reclaimed objects, from May 20 to October 21, 2012. The presentation of new work by Joy Curtis, Ethan Greenbaum, Jason Clay Lewis, Saul Melman, Jessica Segall, and Jean-Marc Superville Sovak in the Museum’s two-acre sculpture garden complements the series of FOUND exhibitions currently in the galleries by Barrão, Jim Dingilian, Roy McMakin, Regina Silveira, Kathryn Spence, and Xu Bing, which will remain on view until on June 10, 2012.
Garden Party
2 to 5 pm
Pack a blanket and prepare to picnic with the hottest, and coolest, food trucks in Fairfield County. Melt Mobile—made famous by celebrity chef and legendary restaurateur Bobby Flay—will dispatch their foodie fleet to serve Aldrich guests gourmet grilled cheese all afternoon. The truck specializes in creative, comforting sandwiches made with local artisanal breads, imported and local cheeses, and the highest quality fresh, organic ingredients. After lunch, stop by Piccolo’s Gelato Bar for a selection of traditional homemade fresh and flavorful chilled treats.
Exhibition Tours and Family Activities
3 pm and 4 pm
Join executive director Alyson Baker and exhibitions director Richard Klein for a walking tour in the Museum’s sculpture garden. The curators will discuss the new work on view outdoors, its relationship to the exhibitions on view indoors, and the significance ofFOUND at The Aldrich.
2 to 5 pm
Participate in family-friendly hands-on art making and activities that relate to the new work on view in the garden and the FOUND exhibitions on view in the galleries. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore and use a variety of materials and techniques, deepening their connection to and understanding of the work and concepts presented by the FOUND and FOUND Outside artists who recycle objects, materials, and ideas to make their art. Explore, play, and create at The Aldrich!
