Movement Disorders & Treatment Options Lecture - On Tues., Jan. 17, 1:00 PM (Registration at 12:45pm), Laurel Ridge Health Care Center, 642 Danbury Rd (Rte 7), will host a lunch and learn lecture on Movement Disorders and Treatment Options.   The focus will be on neurological conditions that cause involuntary or abnormal movement affecting a person’s speed, quality and ease of movement.  Movement disorder symptoms often vary and fluctuate and are caused by diseases, such as Parkinson’s or epilepsy, in various parts of the brain.  Special guest speakers for this lecture are Dr. Garell, a neurosurgeon at both Putnam Hospital Center and Westchester Medical Center, and Dr. Fekete, who is a neurologist at Westchester Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of Neurology at New York Medical College.  The focus of their lecture will be on evaluation and treatment of neurological disorders that can be managed through various surgical and non-surgical options.  Deep brain stimulation, spinal cord stimulation, stereotactic radio surgery will also be discussed.  Professionals are welcome to attend to earn continuing education unit credits (CEUs).  Sponsored by Medtronics, Putnam Hospital Center and Laurel Ridge.  This lecture is open to public.  Light lunch provided with reservations by Jan. 15 by calling call Laurel Ridge at 438-8226.
