Makers Night: Jewelry Making with Lessley Burke

Join us for a jewelry-making workshop, taught by Lessley Burke, master goldsmith and owner of Guilded Lynx, a jewelry teaching studio and gallery in Ridgefield. Explore making jewelry with the simplest of tools—pliers, a hammer, and a pair of wire cutters. Learn to bend wire to form earrings or a bracelet, how to add beautiful beads, and experiment with hammering techniques. Participants will leave with at least one pair of earrings, made of copper, brass, or silver-filled wire. Glass beads will be provided, but students should feel free to bring their own beads to add to their designs.

Lessley Burke has been a jewelry designer, goldsmith, and enamelist for almost twenty years. In September 2011 she opened Guilded Lynx, in Ridgefield, CT. Prior to that she spent fifteen years as an instructor and metals studio manager for the Brookfield Craft Center in Brookfield, CT, where she also spent two years on the board of directors. She has taught at the Silvermine Guild of Arts in New Canaan, CT, the Peters Valley Craft Center in Layton, NJ, and The 1800 House in Nantucket, MA. Burke maintains her own metals studio in Ridgefield, where she has lived for the past twenty-two years.

Makers Night, The Aldrich’s do-it yourself workshop series, offers informal, creative experiences for artisans at all levels of ability. The sessions emphasize observation, process, and discussion through diverse art-making activities, in a social environment.
