o you have old books in your cabinets and on your shelves? Now is the time to brush off the dust and give them new life at The Aldrich’s Makers Night. Join us for artist Jane Lubin’s workshop and learn how to transform an old book into a unique piece of art. Use the pages of the book, along with paint, glue, collaged images or cherished items, to create sculptural elements that alter the structure, add fresh meaning to the original contents, and transform your old classic into something new. Please bring an old book or two, and any items or images you would like to incorporate into your artwork.
Jane Lubin is a mixed media artist who has exhibited extensively throughout the United States; her work spans several genres and media, including acrylic painting, collage, and digitally manipulated photographic collage. Dr. Lubin, whose doctorate is in molecular biology, graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and is an eye surgeon by training. More recently, she graduated from the New York School of Interior Design.
Makers Night, The Aldrich’s do-it yourself workshop series, offers informal, creative experiences for artisans at all levels of ability. The sessions emphasize observation, process, and discussion through diverse art-making activities, in a social environment.
Materials and refreshments will be provided.
Makers Night is sponsored by The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. Special thanks to our media sponsors Morris Media Group, publishers of Ridgefield Magazine, and WSHU Public Radio.
