In March, Dr. Alexis Finlay will be heading back to the Dominican Republic with the Volunteer Health Program to provide surgical and medical eye care to impoverished patients. This will be Dr. Finlay's third trip to the area. An essential part of the program is the distribution of corrective glasses for those in need. Dr. Finlay is taking donations of used prescription glasses, sunglasses and visor hats to her patients in the Dominican Republic. Prolonged exposure to the sun can lead to severe and disabling growths on the surface of the cornea. Protecting the eyes with sun visors and sunglasses prevents these growths.
Dr. Finlay will be collecting used prescription glassed, sun visors and sunglasses at her office at 38 B Grove St., Ridgefield, on the lower level through February 28th. For more information you can call the office at 203-403-3375 or visit their website at www.ridgefieldeye.com.
