The Ridgefield Cultural Festival - Celebrate the Arts!

The first-ever Ridgefield Cultural Festival- Celebrate the Arts! welcomes Ridgefield H.S.'s Nightingales, a talented a cappella vocal group, to an already diverse and vibrant lineup of artists and arts organizations that will be in Ballard Park, Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 10am to 5pm (Rain date, October 16th).  Among the festival's innovative treasures, are the Ridgefield Library's short readings and music from the Dust Bowl, featuring Marcia Simha and Gary Jones, built around their upcoming town-wide reading of Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath; interactive performances by storyteller Holly Gundolfi and performance artist, Chelsea Steinberg Gay; a fascinating live demonstration of the art of weaving by Leslie Smith Jackson and on-site free portraits by photographer, Erica Fabrizio.

Additionally, there will be chamber music performed by Sharps and Flats and the Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra and alternative Latin music presented by Coneccion Limbica. Fans of choral music will be privy to performances by the Adesso Choral Society, the Ridgefield Chorale and the RHS Madrigal Singers.  Featured on our dance stage will be the work of the Ridgefield School of Dance, the MacDonald- Pin Dancers and the Art of Dance, among others. And visual artists will be well represented by the likes of Barbara Jeaneva Lloyd, True African Art, and the Ridgefield Guild of Artists.

For those parents looking for instruction in the arts, the festival represents a unique opportunity to speak with many of the town's greatest educational resources, including The Aldrich Museum, Hearts and Minds Music, the Ridgefield Guild of Artists, The Ridgefield Theater Barn's Kids Group and many others.
