Fabbri Resigns as Head Coach of Ridgefield High Baseball Team

.No longer a coach, Fabbri will stay on as a teacher.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Ridgefield High baseball head coach Paul Fabbri has resigned from that position, but will continue teaching at the school, according to an email sent to parents last night by the school principal.

"While Mr. Fabbri is returning to the building and students may be interacting with him, our expectation and directive is that he will not be speaking to students or parents about the aforementioned investigation or baseball specifics," wrote RHS Principal Dr. Stacey Gross.

Mike Scarlett, the JV coach, will serve as the interim varsity coach for the remainder of the season, according to the email. Assistant Coach Tom Neville, who was placed on leave at the same time as Fabbri, remains suspended.

The Tigers finished the regular season with a 12-8 record.

Fabbri, Neville and assistant coach Len Merullo were placed on administrative leave last month following the Governor Park field fire, then reinstated less than a week later. Anonymous donations covered the estimated $40,000 needed to remove and replace the contaminated earth and clay, and no charges were filed.
