Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off Returning To Ridgefield
Organizers are promising a return to excess, with Ridgefield's most gigantic giant pumpkin festival ever.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — Go big, or go home.
Those cute li'l gourds filling baskets on kitchen tables and front porches will be laughed off the stage at Ridgefield's 9th annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off in Ballard Park on Sept. 26.
Just how big are we talking? Last year's winner weighed in at 1,964 pounds.
The 2020 event was held at Lounsbury House, absent the usual festivities due to COVID-19 restrictions.
This year, organizers at the Connecticut Giant Pumpkin Growers Club are promising a return to excess, with their most gigantic giant pumpkin festival ever. The event will include music, shopping, food trucks, a farmers' market, farm animals and lawn games.
Festivities will run 10:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m., and the weigh-off begins at noon. The event is free and open to the public.
