Haskell Issues Statement on Ridgefield Swastika Graffiti
Will Haskell is running for state Senate in the 26th District.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Candidate Will Haskell issued the following statement about the swastikas discovered on Ledges Road and Aspen Mill Road on Aug. 28:
"I am horrified by the discovery of anti-Semitic graffiti, including swastikas, on mailboxes and street signs in Ridgefield. In a moment like this, it is not enough to simply condemn these disgusting and defamatory acts. We must also acknowledge the underlying cultural forces from which they arise.
"The bigotry rearing its head in Ridgefield bears no small relation to the occupant of the Oval Office. From Charlottesville, to our southern border, to the lobby of Trump Tower, bigotry is passed down from above.
"In the face of this hierarchy of hate, it falls on us to spread tolerance from the bottom up. We must not only decry these despicable acts of hatred, but also reject the language of division in our rhetoric, in our politics, and in our daily conduct. I stand with Ridgefield as we choose compassion over complicity."
Democrat Will Haskell is running against Republican incumbent Toni Boucher for state Senate in the 26th District, which consists of the entirety of Ridgefield, Redding, Westport, and Wilton, and parts of Bethel, Weston and New Canaan.
