The Board of Selectpersons met this past Wednesday. Here are the meeting highlights…
- Ridgefield staple Chez Lenard, aka the Hot Dog Man, renewed his vendor permit for another year. It was Lenard Des Lescinskis who first brought the concept of the gourmet hot dog stand with a French flare to Ridgefield in 1978. During its 41 year reign on Main Street, Chez Lenard has changed ownership four times. The current owner and Ridgefield Native, Mike Principe, is in his 17th year of hot dog man bliss.
- The recent Senior Survey put out by the Commission on Aging, identified a concern among many of our senior residents regarding taxes. There are currently several tax credit programs available to seniors, however feedback from the survey suggests these programs might not be sufficient. The Board talked about a reassessment of these programs to better fit their needs. The discussion will be continued at the next BOS meeting.
- Six new pickleball courts may be in Ridgefield’s future! The location of these courts is not yet set in stone. Parks & Rec is eyeing a property on Prospect Ridge as a possible location, however concerns regarding the noise given the proximity to several residential neighborhoods and the dog park were brought to the attention of the BOS. In a 4-1 vote, the BOS has agreed to write a letter to Parks & Rec asking them to pause any further studies for the Prospect Ridge site until they investigate possible locations on the Rec Center property.
- The BOS has received 30 applications for the Leaf Blower/Noise Committee and 21 applications for the Change in Government Committee. They are now tasked with selecting just 9 members for each committee. Time slots will be presented to the candidates who will choose a date and time to be interviewed. Want to know more?
