As part of Ridgefield’s Jazz, Funk & Blues Weekend, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church is offering a jazz-and-funk-infused vesper service on Saturday, September 7, at 5:30. It features St. Stephen’s own Minister of Music, Alcee Chriss III, on keyboard. Alex Silver, an up-and-coming jazz saxophonist who studied at The New School of Music, is among the talented group of New York-based musicians who will help lead the service. Words and music all center around the theme of creation.

“If you think that religious tradition is stagnant and stale, this forty-minute service will show you otherwise” said the Rev. Whitney Altopp, rector of St. Stephen’s. “The service, open to all, takes place outdoors, weather permitting, so bring a blanket or a lawn chair.”
